Louboutin Inspired Nails

DSC_0031Over Labor Day, I found a pair of super sleek black suede Christian Louboutin boots for 75% off.  When that perfect storm hits, you buy them.  I’ve been wanting a pair of Louboutins for as long as I’ve loved fashion (which is basically forever) so to say I’m excited would be the understatement of the year.  To be honest, I’m not sure what has been holding me back from purchasing for so long.  They’re super pricey so that’s a huge reason but I’m all about a great classic investment piece you’ll wear for years to come.  I’ll debut them on the blog here when it’s not so hot that I can barely change out of a swim suit without cringing.  So in honor of my fun shopping find, I painted my nails with Nails Inc. ‘Alexa Leather’ with an accent of the Christian Louboutin ‘Rouge Louboutin’ polish.

The Nails Inc. ‘Alexa Leather’ is supposed to be texturized to have a leather-like feel. Honestly, it doesn’t feel like leather to me but I like the fun bit of texture and the matte look.  Still totally worth checking out!

Chanel Fashion Show

image

Sometimes I just feel like the luckiest girl in the world.  I love all of my jobs and that is truly a special thing.  Recently, I helped backstage at a Chanel fashion show for Nordstrom.  It was so fun to see all these beautiful clothes up close and personal.  The detail is really astounding!

The theme of Chanel’s collection is Cowboys and Indians.  Think fringe, ponchos, and desert colors.  My favorite pieces were the knee high cap toe boots (one the right side model) and the star sweater.  The little sheriff buttons make me so giddy!!

OOTD: Beige and Burgundy

Wandering in heels

I love visiting my family in Washington because it allows me to wear fall fashion the way it’s supposed to be worn… in layers!  A fun cabled sweater works with everything from skirts to jeans and adds a nice texture to your look.  This one even has a subtle hint of sparkle woven into it!  The pants are faux suede and feel like you’re wearing pajamas and are so super comfy I wish I could have them in every color!  I added some pop to the otherwise beige color scheme with a burgundy coat and boots.  You guys know I love my color so I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Hear Me Roar

Fall fashion street style

There’s basically nothing I love more than a comfy new sweater.  You know, before the fleece inside gets all pilly and rough?  So I’m all bundled up to face the brisk cool Washington air and I couldn’t be happier.  Spending time with family over the holidays is so special and important to me.  I’m so lucky that both my boyfriend and my family live near each other so we get double the family time in one trip!  I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and have recovered from all the Black Friday shopping madness!

Jackets with contrasting sleeves are simply everywhere right now.  They make every outfit look like you’re an expert at that ever so chic winter layers look.  I paired this fun denim and terry cloth Gilt.com find with a few more layers.  There’s a simple white tank and a thunderbolt tunic under there too!  I can’t help but reiterate my love of vintage here (again… sorry!) by topping off this look with a pair of beat up vintage Coach boots.  They’re so deliciously soft now that I’ll wear these babies until they fall apart!

I Just Want To Be Comfy

Striped ScarfSometimes your look is literally all about comfort… with a dash of fun of course!  That’s what I was feeling with today’s outfit.  It’s a totally casual look with Kate Spade doughnut flats and a Jennafer Grace striped scarf to add a little spice.  And it wouldn’t be me without a little color so I added my Chanel long sleeve shirt I was so generously gifted a while back.

I’m so loving the cool weather finally arriving in San Diego!  Although, I know a lot of you are experiencing actual real cold so this is nothing!  In a week we will be heading to Washington for Thanksgiving and I’m crossing my fingers for a bit of snow!

Heels2Heal Miracle Babies Luncheon

Heels2Heal EventThere’s nothing I love more than combining fashion and charity.  So it was a no-brainer to attend the Heels2Heal Fashion Show & Luncheon.  Heels2Heal is a great charitable organization that hosts fashion related events throughout Orange County and San Diego in order to raise donations for Miracle Babies.  Miracle Babies helps to support those families with critically ill newborns in the Intensive Care Unit.  This event was held at the Sea & Smoke Restaurant in Del Mar, CA.  We sat outside and enjoyed the fashion show of Flower Hill Promenade retailers in 80 degree November weather.  Only in San Diego!

I was really impressed with the styling for the fashion show.  I didn’t realize how many great retailers there are in that location!  All the beautiful models were decked out in some amazing fall fashion looks.  Here are some shots of my favorite outfits.

Monday Must-Have Lust List: Isabel Marant for H&M Edition

Every once in awhile, something is so exciting that it trumps all other news.  That’s how I feel about the Isabel Marant for H&M collection and why it gets its own feature for my weekly Lust List.  I feel like all these designer/big name retailer collaborations is really exciting.  The quality seems like it’s just getting better and better.  Remember the Alexander McQueen for Target years ago?  It was like Target got the cheapest material ever for the designs and I didn’t end up keeping a single item!!  I want that collab to be redone now that it’s becoming such a common thing and quality is taken more into consideration.  The Isabel Marant for H&M designs are so perfectly executed that you’d be hard pressed to find something bad about the pieces.  They scream “designer” without that hefty price tag.  My alarm is set to be online at promptly 9AM (PST) on November 14th to hopefully swoop up a few swoon-worthy pieces from this highly anticipated collection.  If you’re near a physical store, the doors open at 8AM (Local Time) for your shopping fun.  If you are lucky enough to get your hands on any of this collection, Tweet me your score @WanderingHeels.  I want to share in your shopping glory!

Just Add a Hat!

Wandering In Heels Brixton HatOne of my fashion philosophies is “When in doubt, add a hat.”  When I’m dressing casual, I feel like a great hat pulls my look together.  You could wear a plain white T and jeans with a great hat and Voila!  Instant style!  This Brixton hat is my latest go to and I love it!  I kind of feel the same way about booties too.  They works with everything from skirts to jeans and are so on trend.  These ones I think I paid like $8 for on Amazon 2 or 3 years ago.  I’m such a deal hunter, paying full price actually hurts me!  Keep searching and no doubt you’ll find some really great cheapies out there!

Breaking out the Boots

Boots!

Boots!!  I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am about being able to wear my boots again.  They make me feel pulled together even when I’m just wearing jeans and a tank.  These ones from Stuart Weitzman work with basically everything and have a thin enough calf that I can’t wear them on their own.  Three cheers for no slouching!
