Wine Tasting in Washington

DSC_0073

So I’ve been a really bad blogger and am so incredibly behind on all my photos!  For those of you that follow me on my social media outlets (Thank you!!), you know that I went to Washington for Mother’s Day.  It was probably the most beautiful I’ve seen Washington since I tend to visit in the rainy winter months.  The sun was shining and every day was pure perfection.

To celebrate Mother’s Day, we went to brunch at Columbia Winery over in Woodenville.  If you like wine & wine tasting, you’ll think you’ve died and gone to heaven in Woodenville.  There are so many tasting rooms and distilleries that it’s super hard to decide which ones to visit.

For my Mother’s Day look, I decided to go girly and modest.  My Kate Spade New York dress fit the bill perfectly.  Of course, heels were a definite must so my Givenchy floral printed pumps added a nice little touch.

You Win… This Time

Ok, Take One Pass It On Challenge.  You win… this time.  It was totally a terrible idea for me to take on the burden of the Take One Pass It On Challenge knowing I had family coming for 10 days and was starting a new job.  Oops!  So I didn’t really get enough outfits into the challenge to really consider myself a winner.  Here’s my remix round up of what I did get accomplished.  Next time though… I’ll be more prepared to take this challenge by the horns!  Promise!

Denim Jacket Remix

DSC_0066It’s finally that delightful time of year that’s full of warm days and cool nights.  That means layers are essential.  For today’s Take One, Pass It On Challenge item, I’m remixing my Burberry denim jacket to be more of an accessory by tying it around my waist.  It’s part of the look but also practical when the temperatures start to dip.

#RedStyle: Embrace Your Personal Style

DSC_0069

When RedEnvelope contacted me about joining their #RedStyle campaign, I was quick to jump.  Not only is RedEnvelope a company I’ve used for years for great gift ideas but the campaign is all about embracing your personal style.  I think what’s so fun about blogging and fashion is that we get to share with everyone our mood, inspirations, and style just by what we decide to put on that day.  I describe my personal style as classic with a twist.  I tend to gravitate toward classic shapes but also love fun pops of color and loud prints.  I also like accessories and such that have a little humor to it, like my Kate Spade donut bag or the “Shopping is My Cardio” Wildfox sweater.  I included my mary jane Manolo Blahniks because they are the very first designer thing I ever purchased.  They’re classic is shape but the twist is the bright and shinny patent leather.  A perfect epitome of my style!  As far as jewelry goes, I’m usually getting ready in a rush so I like to be able to grab something like a giant Samantha Wills ring or a huge gold chain vintage necklace.  A statement piece can really pull your look together!

Another aspect to my style is blending designer pieces with stuff I’ve found at the Goodwill or vintage shops.  That’s truly when I feel most me.  The gorgeous gold and black lace skirt and the beat up old Coach crossbody bag are probably some of my most favorite things in my closet!  I have no problems with second hand clothing and sometimes it’s amazing what you’ll find!  It’s just what you didn’t know you always wanted!

How do you describe your personal style?

My Valentine’s Day Look

DSC06403 Happy Valentine’s Day my loves!  I hope you all are getting showered with hugs and kisses from all your loved ones today!

My honey and I tend to celebrate Valentine’s Day not on the actual day.  We love doing the gorgeous pre-fix menus with wine pairing meals but sometimes it’s nice to go out a few days later and have the place to ourselves.  This year, we’re celebrating our 5th Valentine’s Day together later this weekend (plans still a little TBD).  I wanted to give you all a little sneak peek of my what I’ll be wearing!

The Diane von Furstenberg and Andy Warhol Collaboration is so colorful and amazing!  It basically spoke to me!  Now isn’t that a good enough excuse to purchase?  It’s a perfect nice but not over the top look.

Did I mention it's fun to twirl in?!

OOTD: Beige and Burgundy

Wandering in heels

I love visiting my family in Washington because it allows me to wear fall fashion the way it’s supposed to be worn… in layers!  A fun cabled sweater works with everything from skirts to jeans and adds a nice texture to your look.  This one even has a subtle hint of sparkle woven into it!  The pants are faux suede and feel like you’re wearing pajamas and are so super comfy I wish I could have them in every color!  I added some pop to the otherwise beige color scheme with a burgundy coat and boots.  You guys know I love my color so I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Monday Must-Have Lust List: Isabel Marant for H&M Edition

Every once in awhile, something is so exciting that it trumps all other news.  That’s how I feel about the Isabel Marant for H&M collection and why it gets its own feature for my weekly Lust List.  I feel like all these designer/big name retailer collaborations is really exciting.  The quality seems like it’s just getting better and better.  Remember the Alexander McQueen for Target years ago?  It was like Target got the cheapest material ever for the designs and I didn’t end up keeping a single item!!  I want that collab to be redone now that it’s becoming such a common thing and quality is taken more into consideration.  The Isabel Marant for H&M designs are so perfectly executed that you’d be hard pressed to find something bad about the pieces.  They scream “designer” without that hefty price tag.  My alarm is set to be online at promptly 9AM (PST) on November 14th to hopefully swoop up a few swoon-worthy pieces from this highly anticipated collection.  If you’re near a physical store, the doors open at 8AM (Local Time) for your shopping fun.  If you are lucky enough to get your hands on any of this collection, Tweet me your score @WanderingHeels.  I want to share in your shopping glory!

Fashion Week San Diego: Day 1

FWSD lookFashion Week San Diego is finally here!  After watching weeks of fantastic fashion activity from around the world, it’s our turn to have some fashion fun!  Night 1 kicked off with the Art & Beauty Behind Fashion event.  We got to listen to industry experts about upcoming trends for Fall 2013 and Spring 2014.  We also got some amazing tips to recreate some of the hair looks we saw on the runway into wearable everyday looks.  One of the panelists, Dean Hall of HALL & SAKS,  even gave me a shout out because of my super loud McQ Alexander McQueen dress!  If you ever wanted to see me blush to a deep shade of red, that was your moment!

One of my favorite discussions was about upcoming nail trends.  I love nail trends so for me it was really exciting!  The co-founder of CND, Jan Nordstrom Arnold, gave us some really great inspirations for the coming months.  I’ll share more of her tips in another post.  Stay tuned!

Fashion shows will take over for the next 3 nights and I couldn’t be more excited.  It’s so inspiring to see the designers’ imaginations come to life.  I’ll be taking photos and posting them on my social media and on the blog so make sure you’re following me for the most up-to-date news!  Here are some night 1 highlights.

Those Shoes!!

Sandra

Have you ever had that moment when you run into someone and their shoes are so fabulous you want to hug her, be friends, then promptly steal them in the night?  That’s what happened upon seeing these fabulous Monika Chiang gold leaf pumps on the equally fabulous Sandra Espinet.  These lovely heels are so exclusive that they are only sold in stores in specific sizes!  Definitely worth stopping to admire!

Sandra is currently showing her absolutely gorgeous wool and silk rugs from Nepal in the Aga John Show Room at the Laguna Design Center.  What a display of stunning artistry and color!  She spent her childhood traveling the world and is inspired by the architecture and cultures she experienced.  Her nomadic life also inspired her latest book The Well-Traveled Home to showcase her sharp eye for internationally influenced interior design.  If you are anything like me and have a deep love for travel, you must check it out.  Go head… I’ll wait…
