Pike Place Market: Seattle, WA

Me at Pike Place Market

We were in Washington this past week to celebrate my step sister’s wedding so we took advantage of this time to do a bit of exploring!  I love Seattle and no visit there would be complete without a walk through Pike Place Market.  This continuous farmer’s market has been going for over a century and is full of many treasures and sights.  It’s home to the Pike Place Fish Company where the men throw your purchases (with astonishing accuracy!) across the whole store front for packaging.  It’s a fun sight to see!  I can’t imagine I’d be very good at catching a slippery fish!!

We nibbled on salmon on a stick while checking out the few blocks worth of gorgeous flowers.  These bouquets are done with expert skill and won’t break the bank.  Most large bouquets were only $10!  If I were a local, my house would always have fresh flowers.  There are also many other artisans there with everything from jewelry to clothing to obsidian knives.  It’s really a fun spot to check out for both tourists and locals alike.

Oh and you can’t forget it’s across the street from the very first Starbucks!  It’s crazy how long the line gets but still a good stop before heading into the market.  Dont’ forget your souvenir mug!!
