LookBook: Banana Dress

I love fashion with a sense of humor.  That’s why brands like Kate Spade New York, Markus Lupfer, and Anya Hindmarch speak to me.  The dress fits like a dream but it has bananas on it!  I mean, come on!  It’s like this dress was made specifically for someone like me.  I wore it for a night out to the Fashion Week San Diego Spring Showcase at Harrah’s Resort.  I felt great in this baby.

There’s obviously a lot going on with the dress so I kept accessories simple (for me at least) and just wore a statement necklace.  No bracelets or rings required (that purple thing on my wrist is my admission ticket).  My Kate Spade New York wristlet was relatively simple as well in plain white leather but kept it more ‘me’ with the little frog prince patch.

Celebration of Fashion Runway Show

Spring has arrived in San Diego which means it’s time to roll out the new Spring/Summer trends.  Fashion Valley Mall shared some amazing new looks from retailers like Boss Hugo Boss, White House Black Market, Scotch & Soda, Anthropologie, Halston Heritage, AllSaints, Ted Baker London, Joe’s Jeans, & Macy’s.  If that lineup doesn’t get you excited, you need to check your pulse!  One of my favorite trends is the boho vibe including platform shoes, flowing maxi dresses, and fringe covered coats and bags.  If only my mom had kept her clothes from her teenage years!  I’d be right on trend!

#OOTD: My New ‘Do

Recently, I went to see my new hair artist (because that’s the only way to describe her hair cutting skills) Candice from Goldline Salon in South Park, San Diego.  I wanted to mix things up but not go toooooo awfully crazy.  I’m ecstatic with the results!  It frames my face exactly the way I was hoping!  I think my hair is now a perfect accessory for my summer look.

High waisted flowy shorts are a perfect piece for any summer style (also worn before as a transitional piece).  Of course, I love to have some sort of sassy accessory, done here with a fun little toucan purse.  My favorite part about it is that its beak is the handle!  How hilarious is that?!  You just can’t help but get comments about it!

#FWSD Viva La V Series – Stefan McKellar

Fashion is so much more than just clothes.  It’s accessories, handbags, shoes, and even luggage.  That’s what I had the pleasure of experiencing at the first Fashion Week San Diego Viva la V series featuring Stefan McKellar at the La Valencia Hotel in La Jolla.  His luxury luggage is so wonderfully full of detail that it is a perfect blend of the past and present.  It evokes memories of vintage train cases while remaining very of-the-moment.  It’s classy tough girl chic at it’s ultimate finest.  This is the type of luggage that is not to be checked but carried with pride through the airport to your next adventure.

I am so very much looking forward to seeing more at Fashion Week San Diego this year (Sept. 29th-Oct. 5th 2014).  Purchase your tickets to the show now!  See you there!

My look to this day time fashion event was a simple and classic sleeveless sweater dress by Kate Spade.  I love dresses you can either dress up or down depending on the event.  Expect to see this one a lot over the holidays when I’m dashing from party to party!

Salon on 30th Hair Show

Remember that super fun event I posted about forever ago?  It was so awesome!  I got to be a hair model for my stylist Beth Chambers at Salon on 30th.  She went with a kind of 60’s retro vibe so I wore my fun Kate Spade New York flowy shift dress to match the feel of my new ‘do.  I can never get my hair to curl quite like this on my own but it was perfect for a girl’s night out!

Salon on 30th Event – June 6th

Ever wonder how to get that perfect summer hair look?  This is your lucky day!  On June 6th from 5-7pm, Salon on 30th is hosting a customer appreciation day that will be chalk full of great tips and tricks to have you looking your best all summer long!  Don’t worry, you don’t have to be a current customer to attend.  Just come on by and enjoy the show while sipping some delicious beverages and tasting some appetizers.  I’ll be there as the hair model for my regular stylist, Beth Chambers.  Here are some sneak peek pictures of my ‘do!  Hope to see you all there!!

You Win… This Time

Ok, Take One Pass It On Challenge.  You win… this time.  It was totally a terrible idea for me to take on the burden of the Take One Pass It On Challenge knowing I had family coming for 10 days and was starting a new job.  Oops!  So I didn’t really get enough outfits into the challenge to really consider myself a winner.  Here’s my remix round up of what I did get accomplished.  Next time though… I’ll be more prepared to take this challenge by the horns!  Promise!
