Music Festival Look

I read somewhere recently that said the boho look was dead.  How could boho possibly be dead when music festival season is just getting started?!  I’m choosing to ignore this piece of fashion advice.  To me, music festivals are where we bring out our most Woodstock-worthy attire.  Not to mention hats and long flowy cardigans are just plain practical when you’re standing outside in the blazing sun for hours.

My last look’s hat would be perfect for a music festival so was easily remixed for the Take One, Pass It On Challenge.  This lacy fringe cardigan will look great as I’m dancing too!  These types of festivals can also get super dusty or muddy depending on the weather so be sure to not wear your best shoes.  These beat up old vintage Coach boots are comfortable and if they get more wear it’ll only make them better at this point.  I chose to forgo my usual black eyeliner and kept my makeup to a minimum.  That way, after a long day in the sun, I won’t end up with the dreaded raccoon eyes.  I used MAC pigment powder in Rose Gold for my shadow, dabbed a little underneath for definition, added a touch of mascara and that’s it!

And P.S. – Don’t forget tons of sunscreen!

Denim Jacket Remix

It’s finally that delightful time of year that’s full of warm days and cool nights.  That means layers are essential.  For today’s Take One, Pass It On Challenge item, I’m remixing my Burberry denim jacket to be more of an accessory by tying it around my waist.  It’s part of the look but also practical when the temperatures start to dip.

Denim on Denim Look

Today is day 4 of my Take One, Pass It On Challenge!  Woot Woot!  For those of you that haven’t been following along so far (How Rude!), the challenge is to take one item from my previous look and remix it into a new look!  In my last look I wore these white jeans with a flamingo print top.  Today, they’re being remixed with a Peter Pilotto for Target shirt and jean jacket.  It’s denim on denim without feeling too “Cowgirl Chic.”

I’m keeping up this challenge for a full 30 looks!  Do you think I can do it?!

Blue Skies, White Pants

White pants always make me feel like I’m on vacation.  It’s what I’d wear if I were walking along some beach town, soaking up the sun, and enjoying a beautiful new destination.  So when the sun shines and we’re heading toward the water, white pants always seem to be the perfect fit for the occasion.  Even if the occasion is just lunch!

This is Day 3 of my Take One, Pass it on challenge.  My remixed item for today is pink Dolce Vita pink snake print  sandals.  Check the bottom of this post to see the 3 day Remix Roundup.

Unexpected Casual Look

It’s Day Two of my self-imposed Take One, Pass It On Challenge.  I decided that I’d start out by remixing the blouse I wore in yesterday’s look.  Today, I paired it with a beaded Zara skirt for a casual yet chic look.  I don’t know why but I never wear this skirt for nights out on the town.  I mean, it’s a beaded mini skirt so you’d think that’s what it was meant to do!  It’s my fancy beaded day skirt!  It’s unexpected but still totally appropriate for a day time look.  Just add some funky earrings, like these vintage telephone ones, and your look is done!

I’m having fun with this challenge so far!  I spend most the previous day thinking about what I’ll do tomorrow.  Two looks down, 28 more to go!  Wish me luck!

Take One, Pass It On Challenge

How often do you stand in front of your closet and think, “I have nothing to wear!”  Chances are that’s a total lie and we’re just not feeling creative that day!  That’s why when I read about Sarah’s Real Life Take One, Pass It On Challenge I so wanted in on the fun!  The idea of the challenge is to take one item from the previous day’s look and pass it on to the next look.  For example, today’s outfit is a comfortable flowy top and twill turquoise pants.  I’ll be passing on the top tomorrow for a completely different look!  Then I’ll pick one piece from tomorrow’s look and pass it on to the third day’s outfit!  Get it?!  P.S.- You can’t repeat an item more then once.  So I can’t wear the same shoes for 30 days and call myself a winner… that’s just plain cheating!

It’s so easy to get stuck in a routine of wearing certain tops with certain bottoms.  Most of our stuff is so much more versatile then we give them credit for!  I’m going to try this challenge for a full 30 days!  I know, it sounds totally nuts but it’s time for a closet overhaul without buying a ton of new stuff I don’t really need!  Thanks for the great idea, Sarah!

Today’s look was casual, causal, and more casual… with sparkles!  I mean, isn’t every day better when you’re wearing sparkly shoes?!  These kitty flats are just the pick-me-up I need on a blah morning.  It’s also fun to add an unexpected lip color during the day too. Here I’m wearing Maybelline Lipstick in Vibrant Mandarin.
