Lust List: Practically Impractical

DSC_0084

Sometimes a pair of shoes will come into your life that are so wonderfully impractical that they come full circle to become practical again.  These Kate Spade Go Taxi Flats from its Monaco collection are exactly that.  They’re decked out to look like your typical cab: yellow as the sun with checkered trim.  There are even little wheels on the side!

Now as fantastically darling as these babies are, I obviously wanted to actually be able to wear them with my current wardrobe before pulling the trigger.  Truthfully, I’m not a yellow person and don’t own much in the way of yellow, so no matchy matchy outfits were in order.  That’s fine with me.  Color, though, I have plenty of hanging in the closet.  With funky flats like these, I think you should just go all out and wear more color!

They’re surprisingly easy to wear but just make sure you’re not in a hurry because you will be stopped by people for complements and photos.  Seriously!  People just can’t help themselves around these adorable flats!  Oh, and a crucial side note, they’re actually comfortable!  I can wear them all day and not feel the need to kick them off immediately when I get home!  I’m in love…

Lust List: Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette Review

Naked 3Man, this Urban Decay Naked 3 palette was on backorder forever!  So happy it’s finally here!  The colors are a really nice array of rosey tones so I thought this would be perfect for my skintone.  Not to mention I have a slightly unhealthy obsession with all things rose gold.  It’s been really fun testing all the colors and doing lots of combinations to find out what works for me.

DSC_0013Aren’t they pretty?!  There’s a perfect combination of shimmer, matte, light, and dark tones. The colors are rather sheer but have a totally buildable quality to them.  And when paired with one of the generous samples of Eyeshadow Primer Potion, they just last and last and last and last… get where I’m going with this?  Good.  I need to add another step to my beauty routine like I need to put a hole in my head but the Primer Potion was so incredible, I decided the extra 15 seconds a day was totally worth it.  The Eden color is what I use now and I actually put it under my eyes as well!  Stays put all day and the nice beige matte gives me a good even foundation to play with the eyeshadows on.  The trick is to use just a teenie tiny itty bitty amount of the Primer Potion.  It goes a long way and actually works better if you use less!  On another note, I’ll be totally honest with you guys (as I always am!), I don’t like the double sided brush that come with the palette.  It’s way too stiff for my liking.

DSC_0016As you can see, a lot of the really light colors get a little lost on my skintone.  For me, the first 4 colors are used as a subtle rosey base or to add a little sheen on top.  Otherwise, they’re essentially invisible.  Urban Decay did a pretty great job sticking to the rose gold category but not making every color seem like just one step darker than the next.  There are probably a million possibilities in this thing!  Here’s one of my go to favs…

DSC_0034I use Strange as the base which is a slightly pink matte color up to my brow.  Then use Buzz over the lid and added just a hint of sparkle to the inner corners with Dust.  Topped it all off by lining my eyes with Blackheart on both the top and bottom and added some mascara. Voila!  This is one of my favorite combinations to go from day to night.  We’re all busy ladies!  Not needing to touch up your makeup from one thing to the next is a major added bonus!

DSC_0026

All in all, this is a great palette that will be nice for travel since you can do day AND night looks all in one.  Bravo, Urban Decay, Bravo!

Monday Must-Have Lust List: Radiant Orchid Beauty

I love it when Pantone announces the Color of the Year.  For me, it sets the tone for the coming year.  The fashion industry, beauty industry, interior designers, you name it start integrating the color into their collections before you can blink an eye.  The 2014 Color of the Year is Radiant Orchid, a beautiful blend of blue and red with just a touch of black.  It’s a nice change from the super bold Emerald and Tangerine Tango of the past two years.  This color will look good on just about all skin tones and can be easily slipped into your current beauty routine without totally breaking the bank.  Here are some great Radiant Orchid-esque beauty products to help you stay on trend.

Lust List Gift Guide: Gifts That Give Back Edition

With Thanksgiving coming this week, I like to take a minute to reflect on all the things in my life I’m grateful for.  Doing so makes me realize how lucky I really am.  I’m healthy and happy, what more do you really need in life?  That being said, a lot of people aren’t so lucky.  So for this Lust List Gift Guide, I’m focusing on products that give back.  All of the products listed give some percentage of their proceeds to a charity they support.  We can help others while still giving great gifts!  How cool is that?!

Monday Must-Have Lust List: Isabel Marant for H&M Edition

Every once in awhile, something is so exciting that it trumps all other news.  That’s how I feel about the Isabel Marant for H&M collection and why it gets its own feature for my weekly Lust List.  I feel like all these designer/big name retailer collaborations is really exciting.  The quality seems like it’s just getting better and better.  Remember the Alexander McQueen for Target years ago?  It was like Target got the cheapest material ever for the designs and I didn’t end up keeping a single item!!  I want that collab to be redone now that it’s becoming such a common thing and quality is taken more into consideration.  The Isabel Marant for H&M designs are so perfectly executed that you’d be hard pressed to find something bad about the pieces.  They scream “designer” without that hefty price tag.  My alarm is set to be online at promptly 9AM (PST) on November 14th to hopefully swoop up a few swoon-worthy pieces from this highly anticipated collection.  If you’re near a physical store, the doors open at 8AM (Local Time) for your shopping fun.  If you are lucky enough to get your hands on any of this collection, Tweet me your score @WanderingHeels.  I want to share in your shopping glory!
