Definitely one of my favorite jobs is when I get to assist with styling runway shows.  These photos are from the Beauty Trend Show at Nordstrom Fashion Valley.  This event is particularly fun because we get to go a little wild with print on print action and lots of bold colors.  The hardest part of the job is trying to not come home with every single thing (and the 6am call time)!  I’ve provided links for some of the items under the photos for your shopping pleasure!

LookBook: Plaid and Perfume

DSC_0037

Normally I’m the most girly of all girly girls but sometimes I just need a comfy top and denim type of day.  Scored this ridiculously soft Bella Dahl top at the Bloomingdale’s friends and family sale.  It’s so soft it’s like daytime appropriate pajamas!  The high side slit gives it a little more of a sexy vibe than its “I borrowed this from my boyfriend” counterparts.  If you aren’t being ironic by pairing your plaid shirt with a fluffy skirt or sparkles than distressed denim is just an easy “Do”.

This perfume bottle purse is just too fun for words.  We spotted this gem walking home from dinner one night and I had to go back and get it the next morning!  It was at one of my favorite vintage and novelty shops in San Diego called Bad Madge.  It’s a fantastic destination for unique gifts and really really cool vintage pieces.

Lust List: Practically Impractical

DSC_0084

Sometimes a pair of shoes will come into your life that are so wonderfully impractical that they come full circle to become practical again.  These Kate Spade Go Taxi Flats from its Monaco collection are exactly that.  They’re decked out to look like your typical cab: yellow as the sun with checkered trim.  There are even little wheels on the side!

Now as fantastically darling as these babies are, I obviously wanted to actually be able to wear them with my current wardrobe before pulling the trigger.  Truthfully, I’m not a yellow person and don’t own much in the way of yellow, so no matchy matchy outfits were in order.  That’s fine with me.  Color, though, I have plenty of hanging in the closet.  With funky flats like these, I think you should just go all out and wear more color!

They’re surprisingly easy to wear but just make sure you’re not in a hurry because you will be stopped by people for complements and photos.  Seriously!  People just can’t help themselves around these adorable flats!  Oh, and a crucial side note, they’re actually comfortable!  I can wear them all day and not feel the need to kick them off immediately when I get home!  I’m in love…

Lust List: Mean Girls Inspired Jewelry

Can you believe it’s been almost ten years since Mean Girls came out?  Raise your hand if it’s still one of your top 10 movies to watch on repeat.  Obviously you can’t tell but my hand is totally up!  There are so many memorable lines in it that Stella & Bow has created a new jewelry line inspired by “Mean Girlisms.”  Perfect timing to celebrate the movie’s anniversary.  That’s so fetch!  I picked out a few of my favorites to show you but there is more to choose from on their website (here).  Everything is available for preorder and will ship in February.  Now go on an embrace your inner mean girl, Bitches!

Brand Alert: United Nude

Sandra Shoes

United Nude is by no means new but it was recently brought to my attention by my fashion loving doppelganger (really, I’m her doppelganger), Sandra Espinet.  I’ve mentioned her before because of her fantastic taste in shoes (and let’s be honest here… her taste in everything style!) but I’m so excited about United Nude.  These shoes are art people.  I mean, look at these babies!  And get this… Sandra says she wore these all over a furniture show in North Carolina, did a speech, then continued on to an Architectural Digest party and was COMFORTABLE!  Just add in how amazingly unique this line of shoes is and I’m now officially swooning.  Anything from this brand is on my Christmas wish list for sure.  *hint hint*

Lust List Gift Guide: Gifts That Give Back Edition

With Thanksgiving coming this week, I like to take a minute to reflect on all the things in my life I’m grateful for.  Doing so makes me realize how lucky I really am.  I’m healthy and happy, what more do you really need in life?  That being said, a lot of people aren’t so lucky.  So for this Lust List Gift Guide, I’m focusing on products that give back.  All of the products listed give some percentage of their proceeds to a charity they support.  We can help others while still giving great gifts!  How cool is that?!

Gifts that give back

1) Theory Hody (RED) Unisex Beanie Hat – 25% of the sale price goes to the Global Fund to fight AIDS, providing women the medicine needed to prevent transmission of HIV from mother to child. ($65)

2) ManCans Candles – For each candle purchased, one meal is donated.  Candle scents like Gun Powder, Dirt, and Memphis Style BBQ are meant to appeal to men and are made from the soup can used for the meal!  It’s charitable AND green! ($9.50 Each)

3) FEED Kenya Bracelet – These hand-beaded one-of-a-kind bracelets provide 10 schools meals in Kenya.  ($40)

4) Chantecaille ‘Wild Horses’ Eyeshadow & Blush Set – 5% of proceeds go to the Humane Society of the United States to support their efforts to save Wild Horses. ($83)

5) Keihl’s Since 1851 ‘Coriander’ Whipped Body Butter – 100% of net proceeds up to $100,000 go to Share Our Strength’s No Kids Hungry Campaign. ($38)

6) Endangered Species Chocolate – 10% to organizations that support species conservation, habitat preservation, and humanitarian efforts.  They make a great stocking stuffer!  ($1.99)

7) Sevenly.org Tshirt – For every purchase on this website, $7 is donated to a different charity each week.  I’m loving their fun graphic Ts!

8) Anne Klein Silk Scarf – They have donated $50,000 in conjunction with their Pink Collection to the Breast Cancer Reseach Foundation.

9) Global Goods Partners Clutch Purse – As a member of the Fair Trade Federation and Green America, they offer opportunities for women that would otherwise not have access to export markets. ($75)

10) Josie Maran Bear Naked Nail Wipes – Donates a portion of proceeds to the Polar Bear SOS initiative.  These are great for travel! ($9)

Have an Awesome Day!

Awesome day

Today is awesome.  Why, you ask?  Well other than my super “Awesome” Topshop sweater, it just is!  So I felt like wearing hot read lipstick for no reason other than it felt like a red lipstick kind of day!  Do we really need a better reason?!

Monday Must-Have Lust List

1)  SOPHIA WEBSTER FOR J.CREW COLLECTION

Anybody that even kind of knows me knows that I have a teeny tiny (ok, HUGE!) obsession with shoes.  Like, it’s unhealthy.  So when I got wind of the Sophia Webster for J.Crew collection, I nearly had a shoe induced heart attack!  The only problem with the unveiling at NYFW is that I have to wait until Spring 2014 to get my hands on them!  The torture!!

2) THE HOME. T

I love when fashion and charity collide.  It’s impossible to have buyer’s remorse when you know your purchase is doing some good!  The Home T-shirt is a great way to do good AND be fashionable… basically the best combo ever, right?  For every purchase, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to multiple sclerosis research.  Now show your state some love!

3) OVERALLS!!

You read that right!  On this week’s Lust List is Overalls!  Remember those pants with a bib look you probably rocked in the 90s?  They’re baaaaaack!  So turn up some Nirvana and slip into some overalls, right now!  Make them a little more modern by trying them in leather (or faux!) or a dark wash denim.  I like these and these.

4) KATE SPADE SPRING 2014 COLLECTION

I have spot reserved in my heart just for Kate Spade.  The colorful girlyness is basically me spot on.  I feel like they are reaching into my brain and making clothes specifically for me and my style.  This season was no exception!  Inspired by traveling through Europe, this collection is fun, flirty, and totally wearable!  Is it Spring 2014, yet?

This is one of my favorite looks from the collection…

5) THE WORLD ACCORDING TO KARL BOOK RELEASE

The World According to KarlThe illusive and always sunglass clad Chanel designer, Karl Lagerfeld, is now sharing some words of wisdom with us underlings in his new book The World According to Karl.  His notorious wit (in both the good and shocking spectrum) are synonymous with the man’s impeccable style.  I’m looking forward to this collection of word gems.  Here’s a small sampling of Karl Quotes: “Think pink. But don’t wear it.” “I like everything to be washable.  Including myself.” “I only know how to play one role: me.”  Releases September 17, 2013.

Happy Reading!
