Hike to the Northern Point of Oahu

Hiking in Hawaii

When I think of hiking in Hawaii, I think lush tropical flowers, waterfalls, and vine canopied trails.  Not so  much on this hike.  The manager of the house we rented suggested we take a hike to the Northern tip of Oahu to catch a glimpse of seals lounging on the beach and get an amazing sunset view.  Sounded great!

Well, the hike was not exactly as described.  It was essentially an off-roading track thats main features included tire tracks, empty beer cans, and panties left behind.  Not exactly the picturesque trail we were expecting.  We turned back after talking to someone that said we had a long ways to go… by car.  Since we didn’t want to be walking back in the dark and wine on the beach sounded so much better, we turned around.

The best part was climbing over the rocks along the beach.  Here are some shots of that portion of our walk.  The moral of the story, take advice with a grain of salt and make the time to research the destination yourself.  Oopsy!

#TBT: Bondi Beach, Australia

Bondi Beach Back Shot

I’m one of those annoying people that always has her camera on her and is the paparazzi of the group shouting “Smile!” every few minutes.  In the end, I’m always happy I did when I look back at the photos of our trip.  I can’t believe it’s been almost 4 years since I visited Australia with my two besties!!  Time flies!  Today I’m reminiscing on a portion of our epic adventure: Bondi Beach.  We only visited here for the afternoon but for some reason, it was such an amazing day that it sticks out in my mind as a highlight of the 3 week trip.  Here’s just a sampling of photos from our day at Bondi Beach.

Lunch at Balboa Park

Balboa Park

My mom came down to visit me in San Diego so we decided to spend an afternoon at Balboa Park.  It was an amazingly gorgeous day spent wandering around the botanical gardens and lunching at El Prado.  Check out some of these beautiful photos taken by my beautiful mommy.

Styling for the Teen Vogue Back to School Saturday Event

Styling at Swarovski

One of my many hats is working as a stylist for fashion shows and events with Bad Madge & Company.  For the last two days, I’ve had a blast pulling all kinds of amazing looks for both boys and girls at the Otay Ranch Town Center for the Teen Vogue Back to School Saturday event.  The lovely retailers were kind enough to loan us their merchandise for use in the show.  It’s hard to focus when you’re working with such great clients and not simply start shopping for yourself!  We pulled at H&M, Swarovski, Francesca’s, Macy’s, ANGL, Banana Republic, and more!  Can you believe I made it out of there only buying a dress from H&M?!  I’m very proud of myself!

It all happens this Saturday, August 10, from 12-4pm.  There will be block modeling, music, giveaways, and special in-store offers.  Hope to see you all there!  Here’s a few sneak peek photos of the behind the scenes action for this event!

My Birthday Suit

Birthday Jumpsuit

Not that birthday suit!  My jumpsuit!  For my birthday dinner, I got spoiled with a beautiful sunset at Bertrand at Mr. A’s in San Diego.  We sipped delicious wine on the patio while watching the city lights flicker on and the planes fly in right at our eye level.  It’s one of my favorite places in San Diego for a view of the harbor, downtown, and the sunset.  The happy hour patio menu is really reasonably priced too!  My mom and I came here once and shared ahi sliders, truffle fries, and 3 glasses of wine for only $36!  Anyways, back to my birthday jumpsuit…

I really love a good menswear inspired look.  So I went to with a Ted Baker jumpsuit with shorts and a faux wrap front.  Every outfit needs the perfect pair of shoes so these gorgeous cutout oxford heels from the Sole Society Julianne Hough Collection were the best bet.  They’re so unique and surprisingly comfortable.  I’ll be wearing these straight through the holidays with dresses, trousers, and more!  Not to mention, my complement-o-meter was going through the roof on these gorgeous heels!  Doesn’t every girl love that?  Top off your menswear looks with an ultra feminine piece of jewelry and you’re good to go!  All in all, it was a gorgeous evening and a wonderful addition to my already great birthday.
