FWSD Preview Lunch: Bjashi and Responsive Textiles

DSCN2296Fashion Week San Diego is teasing us again with an amazing sneak peek of two designer’s looks for the October showcase.  We sipped champagne and ogled over the incredible talent it takes to create pieces of this caliber.  The knitwear from Responsive Textiles is created entirely from one string of yarn.  That means no cutting and sewing pieces together.  Amazing!  And Bjashi mixed her Native American heritage with couture fashion creating looks that are beyond unique.  Just take a look at some of these deigns!  I also added pics of my look to the event with my new Responsive Textiles necklace!

LookBook: Spring Transition

chelshoot2-4In San Diego, transitioning from winter to spring isn’t as extreme as most places (I’m looking at you, New York!) but there are a few things I look forward to still.  I move my heavier coats into the garage and dig through my shorts to remind myself and my white legs what I own.  I’ve come to embrace my paleness and don’t bother with sunless tanners anymore.  I get tempted by the latest greatest sunless tanners on the market but I’ve never found one that looks quite right.  Oh well!!  I’m still taking these pale legs out!  My favorite way to transition into spring/summer is to wear shorts with a sweater or jacket.  It’s a comfy easy way to layer for the cool evenings.

P.S.- I found this rad Chanel bag at a consignment store here in San Diego.  I basically fell on the floor when I found it.  My momma taught me never to pay full price for anything (not that buying a Chanel 2.55 full price was ever an option)!  Try checking out online consigners like Shop-Hers or TheRealReal to score your designer deal.

Nordstrom Designer Preview

IMG_20150319_192106243OMG.  The Nordstrom Designer Preview is my absolute favorite show I get to help put on every year.  Who wouldn’t want to touch all these beautiful art-like pieces of designer clothing… and get paid for it?!  Even more so, it’s inspiration for my real life looks for the coming season.  Here are my favorite outfits from the event.  P.S. – My birthday is coming up if anyone is looking for ideas. *wink wink*

LookBook: Plaid and Perfume

DSC_0037

Normally I’m the most girly of all girly girls but sometimes I just need a comfy top and denim type of day.  Scored this ridiculously soft Bella Dahl top at the Bloomingdale’s friends and family sale.  It’s so soft it’s like daytime appropriate pajamas!  The high side slit gives it a little more of a sexy vibe than its “I borrowed this from my boyfriend” counterparts.  If you aren’t being ironic by pairing your plaid shirt with a fluffy skirt or sparkles than distressed denim is just an easy “Do”.

This perfume bottle purse is just too fun for words.  We spotted this gem walking home from dinner one night and I had to go back and get it the next morning!  It was at one of my favorite vintage and novelty shops in San Diego called Bad Madge.  It’s a fantastic destination for unique gifts and really really cool vintage pieces.

#FWSD15: Fashion Week San Diego Spring Showcase

DSC_0188There really is nothing better to get you pumped about new up and coming designers then a teaser runway show.  At Fashion Week San Diego‘s Spring Showcase, they let us take a sneak peek of the featured designers set for the main event next October.   Each designer selected only one look to send down the runway.  This year might be the most sensational yet!  Just look at some of these pics I took from the show!  I’m super excited about the move to La Jolla as well.  It’s literally shutting down a full street for the show!  Incredible.

Pre-Sale tickets are available online now but are going fast.  I have my tickets, do you have yours?!  Click here to purchase.  See you there!

LookBook: Starting The Year Off Right

image

I love the New Year.  It’s a definitive date for you to reset all the things in your life that have gone astray.  For me, my blog has really taken the back burner for many lame reasons and excuses.  As an old band teacher once said, “Excuses are tools of mediocrity from which we build monuments of nothing.”  So, gosh darn it, I’m going to get this blog back on track!  Besides, I really enjoy doing it and another not-necessarily-a-resolution thing I want to change is to do more things that make me happy!  It’s so easy to get caught up in getting stuff done that you forget to take a minute to have a little fun!  Here are my resolutions for the year!

1)  Post to my blog every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.  (Help hold me to it, Lovely Readers!)

2)  Get together with my girlfriends once a month.  It doesn’t have to be something epic every month but we’re starting January with a little wine tasting trip.

3)  Drink more water!  From the feeble amount of research I’ve done, I should drink 2.2 Liters of water a day.  So I purchased a 1 Liter Nalgene bottle to carry around and drink 2 refills a day.

Ta Da!  Totally doable, right?

Fall Fashion in the Valley

DSC_0062

There’s nothing quite like a fashion show.  With the music bumping and models stomping in the season’s most gorgeous trends, you can’t help but swoon over all the lust-worthy looks.  The Fall Fashion in the Valley show at Fashion Valley Mall yesterday just made me want to start rain dancing so I could have an excuse to wear all the beautiful fall layers!  Some of my favorite trends are capes (like this gorgeous grey cape from C.Wonder), polka dots, and girly girl dresses retro chic cuts.

Now if only this weather would cool down so I could actually enjoy all these fun fall looks myself!

How to Wear a Statement Necklace

DSC_0239One thing I love about summer is it really motivates me to get out and explore my own city.  It’s silly how often we just go to the places we know and love without checking out what else is available!  One weekend a bit ago, we went for a nice drive around the Ocean Beach, Pacific Beach, and Bird Rock area.  We so wanted to go to Belmont Park but gave up after driving around a few square blocks for a half hour and unsuccessfully finding parking.  It was one of the first weekends of summer so I guess I can’t be too annoyed.

We ended up in the gorgeous Bird Rock area for brunch and a little beach exploring.  These photos were taken along the cliffs just between Bird Rock and La Jolla.  It’s definitely a great place to pack a picnic and chill to the sound of the waves.

I wore this amazing statement necklace that Tyler brought home for me after a trip with his family.  He picked it out all by himself!  Aren’t you impressed?!  I sure am.  It’s so perfectly me!  I don’t believe you have to wear statement necklaces against boring neutral palettes so I picked out a shirt that was full of similar colors instead.

Silver Pointed-Toe Flats & an Oversize Coat

DSC_0074Sometimes a girl just wants a little comfort.  It was my mom’s birthday last week and she came down to San Diego for a little thrifting, wine tasting, and celebrations.  That meant lots of walking and plenty of different scenarios.  I mean, I don’t exactly want to wear Givenchy heels to the thrift store but I also wanted to feel chic for my favorite wine pub, The Rose.  Some metallic flats and an oversize coat fit the bill perfectly.

Lunch at Balboa Park

Balboa Park

My mom came down to visit me in San Diego so we decided to spend an afternoon at Balboa Park.  It was an amazingly gorgeous day spent wandering around the botanical gardens and lunching at El Prado.  Check out some of these beautiful photos taken by my beautiful mommy.
