LookBook: The Blue Platform

c24Sometimes a shoe comes into your life and sweeps you away.  We had actually used these babies recently in a Nordstrom Fashion Show I worked and I couldn’t leave without them.  They’re definitely a show stopper!  Not to mention platforms are so in right now.  This skirt is actually shorts with heavy pleating on the front to give the illusion of a skirt.  I would never be comfortable in an actual skirt that short!  One gust of wind and you guys would all be getting a show!  No, Thank You!

LookBook: Simplicity

chelshoot2-35Sometimes a little simplicity can go a long way.  Not every outfit needs to be full of color and patterns.  A simple look like this relies on the fit of the clothing to make it chic.  I also matched my bag to my shoes to make the look appear more intentional and not just grab-and-go.

These jewels are rentals from my Rocksbox subscription.  If you want to borrow your own, give it a try for a month free by heading to Rocksbox.com  and use my code ‘wanderinginheelsxoxo’ at checkout.

LookBook: The Bucket Hat

chelshoot2-19I love this hat so much.  It makes me feel like a modern Downton Abby character.  Now all I need is a snooty accent!  Just kidding.  With all that in mind, it just made so much sense that we would shoot this look at the trolly station.  We even had a photo bomb from a guy passing by!  Check my Facebook or Instagram for that pic.

LookBook: Coming Up Roses

chelsrose3Recently I had an interview for a very cool position.  I’m not going to jinx it by giving away any details just yet but cross your fingers for me!  The position is more on the creative side of things so I wanted to show my personally a bit but still be first interview professional.  Now I’m a very girly girl most of the time so this rose print pencil skirt fit the bill perfectly.  The peter pan collar makes the otherwise plain silk blouse much more interesting.  And the pointed toe basic black pump make this staple shoe modern.  I felt like I could take on the world!  Wish me luck!!

LookBook: Polka Dot Romper

chels13The real reason I love a fun romper is because it’s the best lazy day piece that still looks great on.  One and done.  I just accessorized with simple gold jewelry and nude gladiator heels.  I love this Eddie Borgo gold choker too.  It’s a little dramatic but not a huge “look at me” statement piece.  The romper is full of polka dots!  That’s loud enough as it is.  This outfit is going to be my spring go-to for sure.

LookBook: Sydney

DSCN2113

Oh Sydney.  You are so beautiful.  It was a stunning few days we spent in Sydney for the end of our Australia visit.  Never a cloud in the sky and the temps were perfect for a full day of wandering.  We really enjoyed visiting the tourist sites like the Sydney Harbor Bridge, the Opera House, and the Royal Botanic Gardens.  It was a bit windy along the harbor so I totally had a Marilyn moment or two (or three!).  Sorry about that folks!  I miss this place so much.

Nordstrom Designer Preview

IMG_20150319_192106243OMG.  The Nordstrom Designer Preview is my absolute favorite show I get to help put on every year.  Who wouldn’t want to touch all these beautiful art-like pieces of designer clothing… and get paid for it?!  Even more so, it’s inspiration for my real life looks for the coming season.  Here are my favorite outfits from the event.  P.S. – My birthday is coming up if anyone is looking for ideas. *wink wink*

LookBook: Plaid and Perfume

DSC_0037

Normally I’m the most girly of all girly girls but sometimes I just need a comfy top and denim type of day.  Scored this ridiculously soft Bella Dahl top at the Bloomingdale’s friends and family sale.  It’s so soft it’s like daytime appropriate pajamas!  The high side slit gives it a little more of a sexy vibe than its “I borrowed this from my boyfriend” counterparts.  If you aren’t being ironic by pairing your plaid shirt with a fluffy skirt or sparkles than distressed denim is just an easy “Do”.

This perfume bottle purse is just too fun for words.  We spotted this gem walking home from dinner one night and I had to go back and get it the next morning!  It was at one of my favorite vintage and novelty shops in San Diego called Bad Madge.  It’s a fantastic destination for unique gifts and really really cool vintage pieces.

LookBook: Banana Dress

DSC_0145I love fashion with a sense of humor.  That’s why brands like Kate Spade New York, Markus Lupfer, and Anya Hindmarch speak to me.  The dress fits like a dream but it has bananas on it!  I mean, come on!  It’s like this dress was made specifically for someone like me.  I wore it for a night out to the Fashion Week San Diego Spring Showcase at Harrah’s Resort.  I felt great in this baby.

There’s obviously a lot going on with the dress so I kept accessories simple (for me at least) and just wore a statement necklace.  No bracelets or rings required (that purple thing on my wrist is my admission ticket).  My Kate Spade New York wristlet was relatively simple as well in plain white leather but kept it more ‘me’ with the little frog prince patch.

LookBook: Mini Road Trip

DSC_0068Sometimes one night away is all you need to hit the refresh button.  With Fashion Week San Diego’s Spring Showcase as our excuse, we set out on a mini road trip to Harrah’s Casino for the night.  Along the way, we stopped for a bit of wine tasting (my favorite thing!) and strolled along these beautiful orange groves.  The trees were blooming and the scent was divine!  The air smelled like warm honey and fresh squeezed orange juice so strong it was shocking.
