Definitely one of my favorite jobs is when I get to assist with styling runway shows.  These photos are from the Beauty Trend Show at Nordstrom Fashion Valley.  This event is particularly fun because we get to go a little wild with print on print action and lots of bold colors.  The hardest part of the job is trying to not come home with every single thing (and the 6am call time)!  I’ve provided links for some of the items under the photos for your shopping pleasure!

Sugar and Spice

National Charity League Poway

Last weekend I got to help backstage with Bad Madge & Company at the “Sugar and Spice” National Charity League Poway Chapter Fashion Show.  I absolutely love working fashion shows and this one was no exception.  The girls were all super excited to strut their stuff down the runway to songs like “Lips like Sugar” and “Candy Man.”  See the theme there?  🙂  Jennafer Grace was lead stylist for this event and did an excellent job (as usual).  Here are a few photos I snapped of all the action!

How to Update Your Fall Wardrobe and NOT Break The Bank

There is a special place in my heart for Fall Fashion.  I love the colors, the cuts, layers, layers, and more layers!!  I just can’t get enough!  But that being said, I can’t buy every single piece every year or my credit card would burst into flames!  Here are my tips to bring some of the trends for this fall into your wardrobe without having to spend a fortune.

TRY A STATEMENT COAT:

Statement coats in bold prints, angular cuts, loud colors, and mixed fabrics are all over the runway for fall.  But a statement coat is just that… a statement.  And do you really want to shell out a lot of money to make the same statement for all of fall??  Not me!  I’ll be picking up some budget coats to stay on trend but when I’m done with that statement, I won’t have major buyer’s remorse.  Try some of these budget friendly options.

ADD SOME COBALT BLUE INTO THE MIX:

Cobalt is a hot hue this fall on everything from coats, to dresses, to shoes.  You don’t need to spend tons of money on this trend to be stylish.  Try adding just a couple of items for a pop of color to add to your current wardrobe.  Luckily, this color matches with so many other colors that are most likely already in your closet.  Try mixing it with orange, yellow, white, black, grey, or burgundy!

A LITTLE LEATHER, PLEASE!

This fall, leather comes in every shape and form.  Lucky for us, faux leather has come a long way and is surprisingly, well… leather-like!  Picking up some faux leather is a lot more budget friendly than the real alternative and a lot more animal friendly too!  Try a quilted variety for a great on trend look.

Hammer Time

Me with my Sole Society HeelsRemember those gorgeous shoes Sole Society sent me to style?  Here’s the complete look!  Since the Kadene shoe has such a great mix of tough and feminine, I decided to do the same with my overall look.

I wore a pair of leopard print slouchy pants (that I like to lovingly call my “hammer pants”) and topped it off with a simple silk blouse.  To toughen up the look, I layered on a few gold chain necklaces from H&M.  Finally, I added a pop of color with my red patent leather Kate Spade dot bag and a red lip.  For those of you looking for a great red lip that actually lasts, try the YSL Glossy Stain (I’m wearing number 9).  It’s really the best ever!

These shoes are sure to be a staple in my wardrobe.  They’ll look great with jeans, skirts, dresses… you name it!

Styling for the Teen Vogue Back to School Saturday Event

Styling at Swarovski

One of my many hats is working as a stylist for fashion shows and events with Bad Madge & Company.  For the last two days, I’ve had a blast pulling all kinds of amazing looks for both boys and girls at the Otay Ranch Town Center for the Teen Vogue Back to School Saturday event.  The lovely retailers were kind enough to loan us their merchandise for use in the show.  It’s hard to focus when you’re working with such great clients and not simply start shopping for yourself!  We pulled at H&M, Swarovski, Francesca’s, Macy’s, ANGL, Banana Republic, and more!  Can you believe I made it out of there only buying a dress from H&M?!  I’m very proud of myself!

It all happens this Saturday, August 10, from 12-4pm.  There will be block modeling, music, giveaways, and special in-store offers.  Hope to see you all there!  Here’s a few sneak peek photos of the behind the scenes action for this event!
